Pryv is a Swiss-based non-for-profit association as per Article 60 of the "Code civil suisse" with the following purpose

  • Maintain and develop Pryv.io as an open-source software.
  • Publicize and promote the Pryv.io software free of charge.
  • Organize and lead a community of interest around the Pryv.io software

Pryv built an essential software for personal data-driven innovation. Pryv.io purpose-built middleware helps organizations manage personal data from creation to use, sharing and disposal. We accelerate time to market, cut IT development costs and speed up connectivity to all data sources. Pryv.io addresses the enhanced citizen’s right under GDPR and turns privacy compliance into a competitive advantage.

For more than a decade, Pryv.io, ready-to-use middleware for personal data and consent management, has been developed in the Swiss canton of Vaud, embodying the Swiss Value of Trust. In 2018, Pryv released an open-source version to help developers create scalable, compliant personal data platforms built on a reliable, privacy-focused foundation. Since January 2024 commercial licensing activities have been discontinued

In April 2024 Open-Pryv.io software is recognized as a Digital Public Good by DPGAlliance a UN-endorsed initiative that facilitates the discovery and deployment of open-source technologies.

Since March 2025 Pryv.io software is fully Open-Source under the control of Pryv Association
